Just as important as fun and festivities are for Pride, it is also important that we give something back to the community that we are a part. To that end, Indy Pride has designated the Monday of Circle City IN Pride week as a Day of Service.
This year we are partnering with Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, to overhaul a pocket park in the Cottage Home area. If you would like to volunteer, email our Volunteer Coordinator.
Here are the plans directly from KIB: We are renovating and improving a neighborhood vacant greenspace that sits on 5 lots in the center of the Cottage Home neighborhood. We have already moved and expanded the vegetable gardens, and will be building a new park shelter of re-used and recycled materials (including using a section of the RCA dome roof for the shelter roof), creating a gathering and performance space, a rain garden, a wildflower garden to support a bee hive, pathways leading people from the street to the center of the park, a children's play and reading area, and trees and flowers for a beautiful gathering space for the neighborhood.
The address is 748 Highland, just south of St. Clair Street. From the College/Mass Ave/St Clair intersection (45 degrees restaurant), go east about 1/2 mile, under the interstate, over the RR tracks, through the stop sign, to Highland, turn right on Highland and there it is on your right. |
