Statement of Purpose

This scholarship has been established as a way for Indy Pride, Inc. to reward current and future students attending an accredited Indiana-based university or college who are making significant contributions to the Lesbian Gay, Bisexual, and Transgendered (LGBT) community.  The scholarship also provides for those who identify as members of the LGBT community who have demonstrated a lack of support to attend an institute of higher education.

Scholarship Process

All scholarship applications must be submitted online by 11:59 pm on September 30th. After the deadline, the Scholarship Committee, made up of members of the Indy Pride Board of Directors, will meet to begin vetting the applications and to verify letters of recommendations and enrollment. At the October Board of Director's Meeting, verified applications will be distributed for evaluation to all members of the Board.

At the November Meeting, the Board will discuss all applications and decide which applicants will be awarded scholarships, and following the decision making process, the scholarships will be awarded at the annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner on November 19, 2011.

How Money is Distributed

Scholarship funds will be distributed directly to the university in the spring semester following the scholarship award, or if the recipient is a high school student, the fall semester of their freshman year.

Application Requirements

* The final application will be an online submission. For preparation purposes, here is the application for download.
* Applicants must complete all sections of the grant application.  Incomplete applications will be rejected.
* Please do not include any supplemental materials
* Please provide at least one (1) letter of reference, and be sure to include their contact information in the space provided on this form
* If you have previously received a scholarship from Indy Pride, you must wait one year before re-applying
